The special aspects of the new 1-piece RG-D2 models include the step-rim form plus three types of concave spokes in 6-spoke styles. Actually, this shape was used with the original RG line, so the new design could be said to be a return to the original, done with today's most advanced technology fused with today's latest design trends. The outer rim features diamond machining, and the wheels, while being one-piece, have a step-rim look that recalls the two-piece structure. Nevertheless, the stiffness, strength, and light weight of these wheels are made possible by their one-piece structure.

Further, ADVAN Racing JAPAN MADE FLOW FORMING logos are printed on the step of the rims by a thermal-transfer method, so everyone can tell these are ADVAN Racing wheels. The six spokes that are a tradition of the RG design have side cut machining in accordance with the latest ADVAN Racing technology trend, and advanced side cut swoops between two spokes with no join. Further, three types of concave spokes are standard designs for 18x7.5J/8.0J/8.5J, while 18x8.5J/9.0J/9.5J are the GTR design, and 9.5J/10.0J/10.5J/11.0J are the Super GTR design, each with as great a concave design as is possible with die-cast wheels.

In addition, RG-D2 wheels have the same inner rim shape as the TCIII wheels that are so popular on the racing circuit. In other words, these 18-inch wheels have the racing rim profile necessary for 18-inch wheels to accommodate brake systems with rotor sizes of up to 400mm diameter. As with TCIII wheels, the profile is limited to 18-inch rims, and with this model change, the concept is even more sports-use oriented. In a way, we can say that this orientation harkens back to the original RG wheels.
