GFB's DV+ solution is all about simplicity—keep what works and replace what doesn’t!
Worldwide Patent and Design Patent Pending
GFB is excited to expand the DV+ range with a direct-fit solution for the underperforming factory diverter valve found in many European vehicles. The factory-fitted solenoid coil is impressive—it opens faster than any pneumatic valve, making it unnecessary to replace. However, the valve mechanism can be a weak point.
That's where GFB's DV+ comes in! By swapping out the valve parts for a robust anodised billet aluminium housing and a precision-machined brass piston, we tackle the issue head-on.
The result? You'll enjoy sharper throttle response, lightning-fast valve actuation, and the ability to hold as much boost as you can throw at it. Want to know more about the DV+ story? Keep reading!
Many aftermarket products suggest replacing the entire system with a traditional pneumatic valve. This often involves long vacuum hose runs and additional parts to tap into the intake manifold vacuum. Plus, you might need a different solenoid valve to actuate the pneumatic valve or a ballast resistor to connect to the OE wiring loom. All these extras can lead to a slower, less responsive setup that’s more expensive and takes longer to install.
In contrast, GFB's DV+ solution is more responsive, budget-friendly, easy to install, and avoids issues like compressor surge or turbo flutter. No need for different springs or frequent rebuilds either!
Many modern European cars utilize ECU-controlled solenoid-type diverter valves, which is a great concept since they react quickly and only open when needed. But there are downsides. Typically, two types of solenoid-actuated diverter valves are found in VAG and European cars, both of which come with their own shortcomings.
In both cases, the solenoid on the OE diverter is directly linked to the valve mechanism, which isn’t ideal. The strength of the solenoid and the return spring often isn't enough to reliably open and close the valve at high boost.
With these challenges in mind, it’s easy to see why some aftermarket manufacturers suggest replacing the factory diverter entirely. However, while their kits might be stronger, they usually come with slower response times and lower flow rates, making them more of a compromise than a true solution.
GFB has taken a different path to deliver a complete solution that addresses existing issues while enhancing performance—without breaking the bank.
The DV+ tackles factory valve problems with a straightforward yet effective solution. By keeping the factory solenoid, we maintain the benefits of the original system, while swapping out the valve parts for indestructible metal components ensures strength and reliability, no matter how much boost you run.
But that’s not all! Instead of using the solenoid to directly actuate the valve, we’ve introduced a unique "pilot-actuation" system. This means the solenoid controls the air pressure that opens and closes the piston. Regardless of the boost pressure, the DV+ will operate reliably without exceeding the solenoid's capabilities.
This innovative feature also enhances the factory system by progressively opening the valve in response to boost pressure, ensuring it opens just enough to get the job done. Unlike the factory valve, which can only fully open or shut, this results in improved throttle response.
