GFB has expanded the DV+ range to provide a direct-fit solution for the often-underwhelming factory diverter valve found in many European cars. The factory solenoid coil is great – it opens faster than any pneumatic valve, so why replace it? The real issue lies with the valve mechanism itself. GFB's DV+ tackles this by swapping out the valve parts for an anodized billet aluminum housing, complete with a precisely machined brass piston.

Unlike other manufacturers who suggest replacing the entire system with a traditional pneumatic valve (which can involve complicated installations), GFB's DV+ is designed to be more responsive, cost-effective, and easier to install. Plus, it avoids issues like compressor surge and turbo flutter. Oh, and you won’t need to deal with different springs or frequent rebuilds!
Many modern European cars come equipped with ECU-controlled solenoid diverter valves, which is a solid concept since these valves react quickly and only open when necessary. However, there are some drawbacks. Most solenoid-actuated diverter valves found in VAG and European vehicles have their limitations.
In both cases, the solenoid on the OEM diverter is directly linked to the valve mechanism, which isn't ideal. The strength of the solenoid and return spring often isn't enough to reliably operate the valve at high boost. This is why some aftermarket manufacturers suggest replacing the entire diverter. While their kits may be stronger, they often come with slower response times and lower flow rates, making them more of a compromise than a true solution.
GFB takes a different approach, offering a complete solution that addresses existing issues while enhancing performance without breaking the bank.
The DV+ tackles the factory valve's shortcomings with a clever and straightforward solution. By keeping the factory solenoid, you retain all the benefits of the original system. At the same time, the valve parts are upgraded to durable metal components, ensuring strength and reliability no matter how much boost you run.
But that’s not all! Instead of using the solenoid to directly actuate the valve, we’ve introduced an innovative "pilot-actuation" system. This means the solenoid manages the air pressure that opens and closes the piston, allowing the DV+ to operate reliably under any boost conditions without exceeding the solenoid’s capabilities.
This feature also enhances the factory system by progressively opening the valve in response to boost pressure, ensuring it only opens as much as needed. This results in improved throttle response compared to the factory valve, which simply opens and closes without partial openings when boost pressure is low.
